TAGS & SODIAM Special Stone Tender Achieves US$25.8 Million in Luanda
Trans Atlantic Gem Sales (TAGS), in partnership with Angola’s National Diamond Trading Company SODIAM E.P., has successfully concluded its latest +10.8 Special Stone Tender in Luanda, generating US$25.8 million in total sales.
The tender featured 74 special rough diamonds totalling 2,560.17 carats, produced by the Angolan mining companies FURI, SOMILUANA, CUILO KWENDA, LULO, KAIXEPA, CHITOTOLO, MUSSENDE, CATOCA, and LUELE.
Viewings were held at SODIAM’s facilities in Luanda from 23 February to 3 March 2026, with bidding conducted via the TAGS secure online platform and closing at 10:00 AM on 4 March 2026.
The sale was limited to 42 selected participating companies from all major global diamond trading centres, reflecting strong international interest in Angolan special stones. The final results exceeded the expected value of the goods by 22.97%, highlighting improving demand for certain categories of large and high-quality rough diamonds.
The high level of participation resulted in extremely heavy bidding activity on the platform, particularly in the final moments before closure.
These tenders continue to be held under Angola’s Presidential Decree 175/18, which has strengthened confidence among producers and buyers through a transparent and competitive auction system.
TAGS is proud to continue working alongside SODIAM E.P. in delivering world-class diamond tenders that connect Angolan producers with the global market.
